The Frog Journal
What we thought was going to be our last day in Chicago was a sunny hot day (finally). Eliot dropped Hannah off at the airport, Zach and Kristiana met up and grabbed the best deep dish pizza in the city, and Andre was hopping around with a local friend. Eliot and Zach met up in the afternoon to bike in town to stop at REI (always a terrible idea!) and meet up with one of Zach’s old coworkers at one of the oldest bars in the city, Monk’s Pub.
After a light dinner at Monk’s Pub Zach, Eliot, and Andre (who had shown up as we were leaving) headed toward Kristiana in the center of “The Loop”. When they all reconvened, for the first time as the BikeFrog team since meeting in Boston, it was decided that we needed to ride the Lake Shore Trail up the city since it was such a beautiful night. That led to Eliot and Kristiana taking a late evening dip into Lake Michigan before making our way back to Kibuna’s.
When we arrived at Kubina’s he was sitting on the back deck waiting for us with PBRs in hand. We met his girlfriend Claire and spent the evening chatting and crushing PBRs, not looking forward to our goodbye coming up in a few short hours. But, the night was not all chilling. When we realized Eliot had not tried Molort (a Chicago traditional liquor), we made a quick bar run at 1:45AM and all took shots of the “disgusting liquor”….it literally makes your face hurt.
